Result Announcement of “Chun Wo Innovation Student Awards”

“Engineers Save the World”! The “Chun Wo Innovation Student Awards”, established by Chun Wo, a subsidiary of Asia Allied Infrastructure,  in 2018, aims to encourage students to come up with innovative engineering solutions to help developing countries tackle sustainable development issues. This competition received nearly 30 proposals, of which seven outstanding teams were shortlisted for the Final Presentation. These 7 teams have striven their utmost to create models to showcase their projects in a more concrete and meaningful way at the Final Presentation. As a part of the 50^th-anniversary celebration of the Group, the results have released at the Group’s 50^th Anniversary Celebration Cocktail and Mr. Chan Mo Po, Paul, GBM, GBS, MH, JP, Financial Secretary was invited to present the awards. Awardee list as below:

Team Twind Turbine from the City University of Hong Kong: Gold Award, Merit honor in “The Best Engineering Solution Award” and “Merit in the Most Innovative Award"
Team MedEasy from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (“HKUST”): Silver Award and “The Best Social Impact Award”
Piezoelectric Smart Road from HKUST: Bronze Award

Twind Turbine proposes to provide affordable and clean energy through modified wind energy generator, while Team MedEasy aims to improve the patient history management of the developing countries through a light and durable electronic medical record system, so that the diagnosis can be made faster and more accurate; Piezoelectric Smart Road targets to harvest the mechanical energy from moving vehicles.

Winner of the Gold Award received a cash prize of HK$100,000. That plus the cash prizes for winners of the Silver and Bronze and Merit honors totaled up to HK$200,000. Chun Wo will also provide the Gold Award-winning team resources and technical assistance for a year to help it turn its idea into reality!
