Trackwork

The Hong Kong Section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link (XRL) spans 26 km and connects with the Mainland Section of the XRL and the 25,000 km-long national high-speed rail network. "Chun Wo Construction Holdings Company Limited", a subsidiary of Asia Allied Infrastructure, contracted the project of “MTR Contract No. 830 - Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link (Hong Kong Section): Trackwork and Overhead Line System” in 2011.

The most challenging part of the construction was to transport the material to the concrete pouring place since the distance between the two places was up to 8 kilometers and was the longest material travelling distance in the tunnel. To solve this problem, the team used construction trains and specially developed delivery vehicles in the project, allowing the delivery and concrete pouring process could be proceeded smoothly.

The Hong Kong Section of the XRL was officially put into service in 2018. Passengers can pass through the Futian high-speed rail station to major cities in China, which makes traveling between Mainland and Hong Kong a lot more convenient and brings substantial economic benefits to Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong, as well as promoting the integrated development of the Greater Bay Area.
