Ir Dr. Wong, aged 65, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Manitoba, Canada, a Master of Engineering degree in Construction Management and Engineering from the University of Toronto, Canada, and a Doctor of Business Administration degree from Curtin University, Australia. He is a fellow member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (“HKIE”) and the Institution of Civil Engineers in the United Kingdom. Ir Dr. Wong has over 40 years of experience in business management, implementation and delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects in Hong Kong, Macau, the Mainland of China and overseas. He is the part time consultant of Tsuchiya Hong Kong Corporation Limited and China Railway Construction (HK) Limited on new business strategy. He joined MTR Corporation Limited (a company listed on the Main Board of the Stock Exchange, stock code: 00066) (“MTR”) as general manager in projects division in November 2011 and was appointed as an executive director and projects director during the period from October 2014 to August 2018, responsible for the delivery of new railway projects in Hong Kong and overseas. Prior to joining MTR, Ir Dr. Wong started his career in 1978 as an assistant engineer of Gammon Hong Kong Limited (now known as Gammon Construction Limited) and was further appointed as the chief operating officer. Ir Dr. Wong currently is the chairman of the Benevolent Fund Committee of The Lighthouse Club Hong Kong Branch and he was the past president of HKIE.
Ir Dr. Wong has been appointed as Non-executive Director since September 2020 and is also the compliance adviser for the construction projects in Hong Kong under construction segment of the Group.
